A few mentions of RepoMan on Twitter the past few days with many people being banned from WordPress.org and their Slack channel, would really be interested to see if this is a good alternative for our agency or others. Cool concept!

Yes! Pretty much, RepoMan allows web hosts, agencies, or anyone really to install WordPress plugins directly from GitHub to their WordPress website without the hassle of downloading zip files and uploading them. At least, that is the idea, but it’s not quite 100% ready although you can install version 1.3.0 which was updated today and see how the search function works with LittleBizzy’s own plugins.

Yes currently it supports GitHub hosted plugins only, although this might be expanded in the future.

    Question:

If I search “Force HTTPS” which is one of your LittleBizzy plugins names, that will show up on plugin search results?

What if there’s another plugin with that name or slug from WordPress.org

RepoMan always displays it’s own list of plugins from the json file first in search results. We played around with a few different approaches, but I think probably we will not remove duplicate namespaces and just allow users to choose which plugin they want.

The only issue is if you install a plugin, fail to delete it, and then change your mind and want to install another plugin with the same namespace… in that situation you have to delete the old plugin first.
